Comprised by 15 companies and 14 research centres, this project aims to solve the problem of domestic demand management and will also help to lessen the environmental impact of electricity infrastructures, as it supposes a reduction in the need for new generation capacity and transmission and distribution networks and will optimise the integration of distributed generation, among which it worth mentioning renewable sourcesThe development of GAD, will allow sufficient knowledge to be created to optimise domestic consumption and that of small and medium sized companies and to send to users and electrical appliances signals that allow the former to take decisions freely on the basis of price, energy origin, environmental impact, comfort etc. and latter to be located at the most appropriate consumption level as long as the users themselves have accepted it.
The active participation of users and appliances in the demand management mechanisms and in publicising supply costs in real time, including environmental costs of generation, will contribute to user awareness and the subsequent modification in their patterns of energy consumption, thus encouraging the necessary energy sustainability.
